If this is your first time embarking on this adventure, welcome!  If this is a return trip for you, then welcome back!  My name is Katie.  I am quite literally a brand new Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (or NREMT for short) or at least I was at the time I started this venture.  I received my NREMT certification on October 15th, 2018.  During the four month program I was enrolled in at Harrisburg Area Community College, I learned a lot, got frustrated, grew nervous, and discovered a passion for something that I was not expecting.  I turned to my friends, family, and instructors more than my pride will admit and I searched desperately for reference material that would give me any insight as to what exactly I was getting myself into.  That was more difficult than I expected it to be.

A simple google search will tell you everything you need to know in regards to the anatomy and physiology of the human body, the different treatments available for the various types of shock, or the various medication effects on different biological conditions.  What you won’t find is an explanation as to what the day-to-day life in this field is like.  Which is kind of the foundation for this venture; both an educational reference and a glimpse into the daily life of an Emergency Medical Services personnel.

I have never written a blog/created a website nor am I an expert in my field by any means, but I willing to put in the work so that someone who is wearing the shoes I was wearing not so long ago has somewhere to turn to. Therefore if you have a question, ask it, it might just be the focus of my next post.  If you have advice, give it, for I will be continually looking for guidance from those more practiced than I.  If you want to offer encouragement, offer it, I am more than willing to read through whatever thoughts you have to offer.
